Leffler MUN – UN Simulations
Leffler Model United Nations – Leffler MUN – is a project based on the general assembly model of the UN and offers the students the possibility of participating in simulations about contemporary themes and of global interest. It motivates very early the development of essential skills for their academic, personal and professional lives, such as leadership, communication, negotiation, public speaking and project developing, by dealing with global problems and stimulating political and strategic reasoning.
The training for Model United Nations is performed with our students throughout the year and provides the development of these skills and the immersion in different cultures, traditions, stories and political backgrounds, thus contributing to the strengthening of teamwork and mutual respect.
With such preparation, the students can participate in UN simulations around the world, including famous ones Harvard and Yale.
Leffler School Research Center – LSRC
In order to provide even more support and assistance to students in various areas of knowledge, Leffler has established a research center that fosters research projects and scientific articles by students, with the guidance of master’s and doctoral level professors.
One of the first research projects undertaken with the support of the center is focused on Artificial Intelligence, Computational Physics, and the Teaching and Learning of Physics. Additionally, there is the noteworthy publication in the scientific journal, Brazilian Journal of Physics Teaching, Qualis A1, of the highly esteemed article “Teaching Physics mediated by Machine Learning: The case of the simple pendulum” developed by high school students with guidance and full support from Professor Humberto Prates. The article introduces an innovative approach to physics education, incorporating machine learning into the classical study of the simple pendulum.

Leffler Science Week
Still in the Stimulation of Science department, Colégio Leffler presents Leffler Science Week, an annual multidisciplinary event with the goal of developing tecno-scientific skills among middle school and high school students through planning, execution and presentation of scientific works built throughout the year.
The event also seeks to provide the integration of the scholar community with the technical and scientific community of the city of Salvador through expos, workshops, labs, companies and other institutions focused on promoting science.
Robotics and Computational Thinking
Robotics is an interdisciplinary science that allows the students to understand how machines and other automatic mechanisms work. It provides a more ludic and realistic learning of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math).
As for Computational thinking, it deals with contact with new languages and a new way of thinking, stimulating socio cognitive development. By utilizing information and logic as allies in solving endless problems and also transforming complex problems into something easier to comprehend.
Olimp teaching and Knowledges Olympics
A specific and efficient preparation to academic olympics A preparação específica e eficiente para olimpíadas acadêmicas significantly contributes to student development.
Scientific and knowledge Olympics are a valuable way of motivating the students to wanting to learn and surpass themselves, while providing a deep dive in the content of several subjects, elevating the level of learning of the students, by valuing knowledge in the most diverse areas such as health, humanities, exact sciences and technology.
Leffler also provides specific classes for national and international olympics of math, physics and chemistry inside the school curriculum. The School has an olympic departament solely responsible for the registration of the schools in the olympics, as well as advertising and all the support necessary for each competition.
This preparation process makes a huge difference in the student’s future, not only helping them solve problems and challenges, but also as a means to enter in some of the public universities that offer spots for winning students in some of the national Olympics.
LAR – Leffler Ação e Reação
Basing on the STEAM methodology, one based on projects, we created LAR – Leffler Ação e Reação. A project where we seek to bring a fun competition among students, with activities that facilitate interdisciplinary learning, stimulate solidarity and incentives socialization.
LAR seeks to also stimulate the student’s autonomy, bringing them to the center of their own learning process and developing values such as solidarity, collaboration, respect, interaction and responsibility.
Besides the STEAM methodology, we based the project on activities that aim to develop skills deemed important for the students by the BNCC (Base Nacional Comum Curricular), while also being a project where new talents can flourish in fun ways.
LICAP
Colégio Leffler is not only an Olympic school, but an international one. Through Leffler’s Internacional College Advising Program (LICAP), we prepare young students to work in an interconnected world and achieve their goals outside the national borders.
Through meetings, our counselors and advisors aid the Leffler’s students in the path of international approvals. The meetings include prep classes for selective universities, knowledge tests such as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) -, English tests and selection processes for scholarships abroad.
Not only helping them study for approvals in foreign institutions, we prepare our students to participate in global events and competitions. Being a part of these activities, besides being extremely good for personal, professional and academic development, is also essential for the process of application in the most competitive universities in the world.
Training Itinerary
Training Itinerary are a set of disciplines, projects and workshops that students can choose during high school.
They represent the main change introduced in the New Brazilian high school curriculum and came with the objective of replacing the older learning model with a new one, more flexible and diverse, better tending to the needs of the young students.
The workload of the New High School curriculum is divided among the training Itineraries and the mandatory subjects defined by the BNCC.
English Course – Leffler Immersion
Leffler, as an olympic and international school, seeks to offer our students the best global opportunities. As many of those require the English language, Leffler Immersion seeks to fill that need of our students, bringing the language learning from the most basic level to the most advanced ever since middle school.
The course also works the english language under the perspective of Communicative Approach, seeking to develop the 4 essential communication skills (speaking, reading, writing e listening) while also working the social and socioemotional skills (critical thinking, social responsibility, collaboration, creative thinking, communication and learning to learn).
Leffler Immersion happens in the afternoon shift, using materials from the main English publishers, such as Cambridge, Oxford and MacMillan.
Protagonism and Life Project
One of our big stand out points is that, beyond the academic preparation for prep exams, Leffler also prepares the student for life. With this in mind, we develop projects to stimulate the students’ socioemotional skills, competences that generate a big impact in their lives.
Protagonism and Life Project classes will develop a work to maximize the process of self knowledge, seek for autonomy and authorship. To reach these goals, we propose activities that make the student participate and seek solutions. For this, we work with concepts for the Itinerary as a whole, such as ideology, ethics, entrepreneurship, and Maslow’s pyramid of needs.
Scientific Initiation
With the goal of stimulating the students with the right aptitude and dreams of working on scientific areas, Colégio Leffler seeks to bring the scientific Initiation and develop in students project planning and execution, specially those connected to bioinformatics and later submitted to scientific magazines as articles and fairs such as FEBRACE.
In these projects the student is introduced to the scientific world through practice, which allows them to see the consolidation of their academic development in the long term.
There is also the “Young Scientist” project, that seeks to provide students, since the beginning of the school year, laboratory activities with testing and practice of experiments learned in class. The focus is to find alternatives and social utility to these experiments.
